Playing in the Dirt

The boys and I have been getting to spend a lot more time together lately.  I took a new position at work a few weeks ago which has allowed me to be home more.  Before I was working a LOT of overtime hours and now it has probably been cut in half.  It may result in a little less money in the long run, but now I don’t have to expect my phone to ring 3-4 times a week.

So what have I been doing with all my free time?  Well… you never have free time with kids.  So my time away from work has been spent with my boys.

LuLu has started a business introducing essential oils to people.  Our family has been using them for about four years (since James was born).  I wasn’t too sure about them at first, but the proof is in the pudding.  It is rare for one of us to get sick.  I have watched the oils do amazing things first hand and now I am a firm believer in them.  She has been getting busier on nights and weekends as her business grows, and this weekend she was not home much.

The boys and I had to help install a drain in the field beside our house to help get rid of the standing water.  So Saturday we were on the excavator and front loader for six hours installing a drain pipe.  The boys were loving it!  They both love to be outside getting dirty, and that is what they did.  They were smiling from ear to ear the entire time.  I thought it was going to be an impossible task without mama here to watch them, but they did a great job of entertaining themselves.   I lost count how many times I had to take off their boots and get the chunks of dirt out of them, but they were having a blast.

They were sad to see the digger leave around four o’clock as we cleaned up our mess outside.  However, all good things come to and end and we needed to get showers and have supper ready for when mama got home.

It was another good day for dada and his boys.  We worked hard today and they missed their nap because we were so busy.  It didn’t take them long to fall asleep after we laid down and turned on a bedtime show.  In fact, I don’t think I saw the end of it either!
